KBACH 89.5 FM classical host


KBACH (KBAQ) 89.5 FM is hiring a dynamic, full time on-air host who is passionate about sharing classical music with the Phoenix metro area in a friendly, engaging manner. The successful candidate will have experience presenting classical music with a broad audience in mind.

KBACH is a listener-supported public radio station broadcasting to the Phoenix metropolitan area. KBACH is the only radio station in Phoenix that plays classical music 24/7, reaching listeners around the world who stream KBACH online.

Essential functions

50% - Hosts LIVE on-air classical music shifts.
20% - Voice tracks on-air classical music shifts using automation software .
20% - Schedules music programming using automation software (i.e Music Master).
10% - Produces promos and arts features using digital editing software; Represents the station at community events and interviews artists.

Minimum qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in journalism, English, broadcasting, communication or a related field and five (5) years of on-air experience in journalism, news, multimedia, and audio board operations in recorded and live situations that includes demonstrated experience through on-air portfolio within the last five (5) years that shows an understanding of target audiences, continuity, broadcast technology, interviewing skills, and well-written on-air news which includes two years of supervisory experience.

OR

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired qualifications:

1. Three years of experience hosting classical radio air shifts.
2. Three years of experience producing content for air using digital editing software.
3. Two years of experience conducting artist interviews.
4. One year of experience promoting radio programming on social media.
5. One year of full-time relevant MCCCD experience during the previous two years.
